Mainstream Commercial Divers, Inc. routinely works in contaminated environments including work at hazardous waste spills, the salvage of sunken barges carrying hazardous materials, work at paper mills and manufacturing plants where the environmental conditions also include hazardous temperatures and/or confined space entry work, work at government facilities including where uranium is enriched for use in nuclear power plants, work in municipal raw sewage, biologically contaminated environments, as well as in a wide variety of chemically contaminated environments. MCDI has constructed specialized equipment which allows us to dive in harsh, chemically treated water environments with temperatures of 120 degrees.

MCDI divers are highly trained and experienced in performing contaminated diving operations in a variety of environments.
MCDI's contaminated dive crews are experienced and trained to safely and productively operate in these high risk environments. In addition to being certified commercial divers through the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI), MCDI's contaminated dive crews undergo in-house training for work in these high-risk environments.
Many of MCDI's divers also have OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Materials Training, which is updated annually.

CASE STUDY: Underwater Oil Cleanup
Mainstream Commercial Divers, Inc. assisted with underwater oil cleanup efforts after Venezuelan crude oil leaked from the tanker Athos I, into the Delaware River near Philadelphia.

| CASE STUDY: Repairs to Sewer Lagoon Curtain
For this project, Mainstream Commercial Divers, Inc. installed several new pipe posts, installed a new section of lagoon curtain, reattached a section of lagoon curtain that had come free from the anchoring system, and installed new aerators.

A few recent projects include:
- The installation of sediment accumulation monitoring equipment in a contaminated lagoon at a US EPA Superfund site
- Industrial sewer line pipe penetrations of hundreds of feet through 30” pipes by a dive crew at a chemical plant in Tennessee
- Assisting with underwater oil cleanup efforts after Venezuelan crude oil leaked from the tanker Athos I, into the Delaware River near Philadelphia
- The installation of aeration systems in chemically treated environments with water temperatures up to 120 degrees and at paper mills in several states

CASE STUDY: Municipal Sewer Lagoon Maintenance
MCDI recently performed maintenance to a municipal sewer lagoon. This project included the removal of sewer outlet gratings by diver; transportation of the grating to the surface for cleaning; and reinstallation by diver.

CASE STUDY: Wastewater Treatment Facility Repairs
The MCDI contaminated dive crew cleaned and inspected several malfunctioning sluice gates. The dive crew also removed one gate and installed a metal plate over the opening. |
